Leverage Leadership
A Reflection on Ourselves

Have you ever done a case study on yourself?
We have! Why? Because we believe in pausing to reflect on what we’ve gained.
Every client project has been a gift; shared energy, shared knowledge, and shared growth. This case study is not just about what we’ve delivered, but about what we’ve learned, and how those lessons have shaped us.
The Challenge We Saw
When organisations sought to upskill managers and staff, often for BBBEE compliance or performance improvement, the impact of training was limited.
Delivery was generic, disconnected from the company’s culture, language, and operational realities.
As a consultant, I noticed that when content was tailored to the organisation’s leadership language and culture, managers engaged more deeply and applied lessons more effectively. That insight became the foundation of Leverage Leadership.
Our Philosophy
We don’t need a title to lead. We lead ourselves first to lead others. How do we transfer this philosophy?
We remind you that you matter, we show you that your role and function in a company is significant and impacts the overall organisational culture and performance.
Leverage is therefore built on two guiding approaches:
- Humanistic theory: focusing on the individual, their strengths, and their unique capabilities.
- Systems theory: ensuring personal growth aligns with organisational frameworks and culture.
We balance these with coaching (individual and group) to embed learning beyond the classroom. And we spend time with clients, listening between the lines, connecting with people rather than frameworks.
What We’ve Learned Along the Way
Our journey has been as much about learning as it has been about teaching. We’ve immersed ourselves in:
- Consumer Intelligence: understanding how data drives decisions.
- Mobility and Shared Transport: exploring the complexities of ridehailing, shared drives, and urban mobility.
- Engineering and Manufacturing: from chutes to largescale infrastructure, seeing how technical precision meets leadership challenges.
- Dairy Production: learning how cheese is made and how supply chains connect farm to factory to consumer.
- Mining: Discovering the resilience required in highrisk environments and the leadership needed to balance safety, productivity, and human wellbeing.
- Debt Collection: understanding the importance of empathy and communication in industries often associated with tension and conflict.
- Medical Aid Administration: learning how precision, compliance, and care intersect to serve people in moments of vulnerability.
- Government Funds: appreciating the complexity of systems that underpin public service delivery.
- Data Management and Infrastructure: gaining insight into how information is stored, protected, and leveraged as the backbone of modern business.
- Gaming and Compliance Testing: understanding how rigorous standards ensure fairness, integrity, and trust in the global gaming industry.
- Retail and Fashion: learning how consumer trends, supply chains, and brand identity shape the retail landscape.
- Social Impact Sectors: engaging with the crisis of GBV in South Africa and the resilience of nonprofits working at the frontline.
- Legal Environment: appreciating that law is not only technical expertise but also emotional resilience, precision, and trust in highpressure settings.
- Graduate Development and Workplace Readiness: recognising that qualifications alone do not prepare young professionals. Readiness requires selfawareness, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and confidence. Most importantly, the youth have taught us new perspectives about life; reminding us that leadership is not only about guiding others, but also about listening to the fresh wisdom of those just beginning their journey.
We’ve also had the privilege of working with global directors and managers, gaining macro perspectives that broaden our understanding of leadership in diverse contexts.
Our Greatest Gift
The greatest gift of our journey has been what our clients have given us: knowledge, perspective, and shared energy. Every industry we’ve stepped into has taught us something new, every leader we’ve worked with has expanded our understanding, and every graduate has reminded us of the beauty of fresh perspectives.
We have learned as much as we have taught. And that is the essence of Leverage Leadership. Growth is not onesided; it is a shared journey, a dance of heart and mind, where we all choose to shine together.
The Heart of Leverage
Our mission is to balance heart and mind in the workplace. To bring relationships back into focus. To remind people that they can lead as their unique selves while remaining aligned with business goals. Compliance and upliftment can coexist with care, passion, and knowledge.

LeverageForward
Our philosophy of LeverageForward means building on what already exists but propelling it into the future. We don’t just prepare people for jobs; we prepare them to lead, adapt, and sustain growth in South Africa’s evolving economy.
Leverage Leadership is more than a consultancy. It reflects who we are: passionate partners who listen, customise, and walk alongside organisations to create leaders who balance heart and mind, and who shine in their own right.
